Stacie is a Senior Music major with an emphasis in Piano Performance from Houston, Texas and a Fall 2015 NUGI. Stacie has been an integral part of LHS over her three years in the group, from her voice and piano skills to arranging music to being a great friend. Outside of LHS she performs in UT Chamber Singers, is a keyboardist for the band Jade Vine, sings in the University Christian Church choir, and is a composer for En Memoire, a production coming to UT in December. We're so thankful for you, Stacie!
What is on your playlist right now?
Improvisational jazz piano and a whole lot of choral music. Vince Guaraldi is my all time favorite jazz pianist, and I have the A Charlie Brown Christmas album sheet music so I'm studying up! I'm also obsessed with Jacob Collier right now. He just won two Grammy awards for best instrumental arrangements, so I've been listening to his stuff, plus interviews he's a part of because the boy's a musical genius.
What is your favorite Longhorn Singers event or tradition?
[LHS' end-of-semester banquet] Wine and Cheese, because it's literally a night filled with my favorite things: Wine, cheese, wine, my best friends, wine, fancy clothes, and wine!
What is it that you are most proud of right now?
I feel like I have grown more over the last year than I did over the 20 before. I restrengthened relationships with my friends and family, but more importantly with myself. I'm studying things I truly feel a passion for, and I'm taking leaps I never thought I would take. I'm drinking plenty of wine, and I'm quoting plenty of vines. "Proud" isn't the right word, but I'm just very content with my life, where it stands, and where it leads!
Did you have any weird quirks as a kid?
I spent 17 years thinking that the cardboard tube used to hold toilet paper and paper towels was called a "durger." Turns out that "durger" is not a real word. Thank you mom and dad.
